Counter Top Edge Design

Picture name -3in miter on .75(2)- note that this material is only ¾ thick and has a mitered edge. The miter is done in a special way so that the veining of the Calcutta marble continues throw the entire with of the 3” leaving it seamless and looking like a solid 3” thick piece of stone. This is a good display of I.S.A. craftsmanship.

Picture name – 2ogees and a DuPont - the actual material is only ¾ “ thick and its recessed 3 times to allow every edge to be shown. There are 3 different edges in this picture the top 2 are your standard Ogee the bottom one is a DuPont edge. By recessing the edges on the seams we are able to create the illusion of a 2 ¼ “ total thickness with an extremely elaborate edge.

Picture name – Friedman Chiseled (23) – This is the hardest edge I have yet to encounter. This chiseled process is very easy on other materials such as Limestone, Marble and Travertine. But on a granite this process is very difficult, usually the process is done by hand using a air hammer machine. But in order to make sure the chipping did not get out of control we used a regular hammer and stone chisel.(like ancient days)

Picture name –Fuer ISA Classic(21) – This is a classic ISA edge, that we call the ISA Classic the material is 1 ¼ recessed and built up for a total thickness of 2 ½ “ this edge is sleek not to heavy but with just enough detail. Note again how the veining on the material continues even after the recessed edge detail. This is also the kitchen we talked about with the marble island and granite perimeter. The photo was take almost4 years after the kitchen was installed.
On our last 3 kitchens we have developed a new and unique edge style. I will have pictures soon, as these kitchens are still under heavy construction. These new sleek designs are innovative in their design as well as their structure.
